Music
When I was in high school I began recording what would become my first musical ideas. I used cassette tapes to record the riffs and chord progressions that I came up with. These early pieces were mostly guitar-based and “rock and roll”-influenced. When I began my education at The Evergreen State College, I was immediately introduced to a wide variety of music. The genre that captured my interest (and still to this day) was orchestral concert music from the early 20th century. Listening to what composers such as Aaron Copland and Igor Stravinsky were creating at this time prompted me to learn how to write music down onto manuscript paper and arrange it for the different instruments of the orchestra. Though I am drawn to interesting harmonies and irregular rhythmic relationships in music, I still have an interest in rock and roll, as well as hip-hop, dance, and pop music. I continue to write music in whatever style that inspires me at that time. I am eager to score films as it offers the potential to write in a number of different ways and still maintain a common theme throughout.
